If our “Spiders” dominate our lives, there is no realistic way to have a platform or place on the noisy stage of life.

If you remember from my previous post I mentioned that I wrote a “mission statement.” The mission statement was created using the template from the book Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill. The more I read the book, the more agree with the principles in the book. Here is my personal mission statement that I created using the template from the book:

By the 22nd of October 2022 I will have 2 million dollars in asset and be debt free. This money will come to me in various amounts from time to during the interim. In return for this money I will give the most efficent service of which I am capable , rendering the fullest possible quanity and the best possible quality of sercvice as a disability services coordinator, marketing executive, writer and speaker. I believe I will have this money in my possession. My faith is so strong that I can see this money before my eyes. I can touch it with my hands. It is awaiting transfer to me at the time and in proportion to the service I render in return for it. I am awaiting the plan by which to accumulate this money, and I will follow that plan as soon as it is recieved.

Before you think I am greedy when you think of the cost of a house and a car, there is easily over half a million in assets right there. Also, this statement is supposed to be a realistic, attainable goal; and a goal that fills you with confidence so that when you hit road blocks to your goal, you will keep moving forward. One more thing, I had so many people help me along the way in life that I have a desire to set up a disability scholarship fund at Temple University and Stony Brook University. You can only do that if you have money. Just saying.

Well, this weekend I discovered two major roadblocks to my success; spiders and biting off more than I can chew. I got to go to BASICcon this weekend. I am glad I went. One of the speakers spoke about how a woman kept coming up to his father and asking him to pray that the cobwebs would be removed from her life. For several nights this woman came with the same request. Finally, the man’s father said, “no ma’am I will not pray for the cobwebs to be removed from your life, I will pray that the spiders that are making these cobwebs will be found and killed!” The speaker went on to ask us, how often are you simply removing the cobwebs instead of finding and killing the spiders?

I have gone through a lot, I have also done a lot to become more healthy and move forward with my life. I know the difference in my life when I am letting cobwebs stay and grow, just cleaning the cobwebs and when the spiders are being found and killed. Right now there are three, poisonous spiders that have set root in my heart and I know where they are I just have to kill them.

Spider 1: You made such a huge mistake that you missed out on God’s call on your life.

Spider 2: Because you messed up your life this way, you can do as you choose (this led to a immoral relationship).

Spider 3: God cannot redeem what you have done and you need to settle for whatever you can get because you are not worth being given anything  of value or influence.

I will be working through killing these spiders one by one in my devotional time, with the help of friends.

Another speaker at the conference was so down to earth about his struggles it was awesome. He made many good points, but I zoomed in on the fact that, here was this average guy, who struggles the way I do and, yet he is a success. I walked up to him right at the end of his session and told him that I completely related to him, and I wanted to be a successful person too. I wanted to be a successful blogger, writer, and speaker as he was. He loved the fact that I was writing this blog. Told me it took him five years of writing blog posts five days a week before his blog got any traction, but; that once it gained traction that is when he started getting book and record deals. He also suggested I read the book Platform: Getting Noticed in a Noisy World by Michel Hyatt. Since I am still in that space of getting myself to move, I started reading the book. I will have a platform, but my spiders will not dominate me. The process of killing them will be a small piece of my platform; my story that gets heard in a noisy world.
